Situated on Main Street in Park Rapids, we have a modern vibe and a fresh, innovative menu inspired by Minnesotan favorites.

Since the Good Life first opened its doors 10 years ago, we’ve prided ourselves in welcoming everyone — really, everyone! No matter your age, sense of style or stance on lutefisk, we believe everyone should have a chance to enjoy the delicious, good & good-for-you food and genuine hospitality!

But we couldn’t do any of that without our exceptional Front of House and Back of House teams. Their dedication, hard work and professionalism drive us forward and inspire us every day. They serve up sincere hospitality and crafty Minnesota foods to hundreds of people every day. (Yep, they’re basically superheroes.)

EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION

LINE COOKS

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! WE ARE HAPPY TO TRAIN THE RIGHT CANDIDATE!

For us it all comes down to attitude and work ethic! If you have a positive attitude and strong work ethic then you'll be a great fit with our team. We are happy to teach you new skills that will serve you well the rest of your life.

As a Line Cook at the Good Life you will participate in the daily operation of the cooking line, which primarily means calling tickets and coordinating the production of hot and cold menu items to order in a timely manner across three stations (fryer, grill, and sauté). Consistency, accuracy, and speed are essential!

You will setup the line in the morning, restock and keep stations clean throughout the day, and close the line at the end of business. You will also help with prep work, receiving food deliveries, rotating inventory, cleaning kitchen equipment, and organizing coolers and dry storage. Please know this is a physical job! You must be able to regularly lift 25-50lbs, stand for many hours, and work in the heat. We work hard, but we have fun!

Our Line Cooks works as a team with our Executive Chef to ensure quality standards are met, food safety practices are followed, and a supportive work environment is maintained for everyone.

PREP COOK

Prep Cooks at the Good Life work under the guidance of our Head Chef and are integral to providing smooth, consistent food service. Prep Cooks prepare food according to our written recipes and food safety standards, manage inventory levels, restock the cook line, and generally support the rest of the culinary team. Confidence with knives and reading recipes are great skills to highlight as an applicant, but we’re also happy to teach you!

DISHWASHER

What’s the secret to an efficient, spotless kitchen? A hard-working and reliable Dishwasher! Dishwashers at the Good Life are not only responsible for cleaning dishes, they’re also an important utility player in the entire restaurant operation, assisting both the kitchen and service staff. If you’re an energetic multitasker who doesn’t mind getting your hands dirty (heck, you might even enjoy it) you could be a great fit for us!

BUSSER

A quick Busser helps the dining room flow like clockwork. Directed by the Host, the Busser clears and sanitizes tables so they're clean, spiffy-looking and ready for the next group. The Busser also supports the Servers and Dishwasher to maintain a well-stocked and tidy workspace. If you work best in constant motion and aren’t afraid of a little elbow grease, you’d fit right in with our team of Bussers.

EXPO

Experience the best of both worlds in the Expo position. As an Expo, you’ll have one foot in both the Front of House and Back of House. The Expo's main responsibility is delivering food to guests. You’ll be our final check for food quality and order accuracy, so attention to detail is a must — as is a sense of urgency and a comfy pair of shoes, because the Expo is always in motion and working during the busiest services.

HOST

Our Host is the first and last face a guest sees at the Good Life, which is why it’s oh-so-important for them to represent our values and make everyone feel welcome. Hosts at the Good Life greet and seat guests, manage the wait list and reservations, answer the phone, handle takeout orders, circulate the dining room to assist servers, take payments, and bus tables. A positive disposition, genuine love of people, and a "go with the flow" attitude will make you a natural for this position.

SERVER

The backbone of Good Life hospitality is our exceptional service staff. It's a Server's responsibility to make sure guests have a great time while they're with us — which means having encyclopedic menu knowledge, making excellent recommendations, reading the mood of the table, and ensuring repeat patronage with a friendly, personable attitude. The ability to stay calm under pressure, multi-task, keep an eye out for our customers' best interest and, of course, have fun are must-have skills for this position.

POPCORN ASSOCIATE

Become a popcorn extraordinaire in our sister shop, Molly Poppin's Gourmet Snacks! Mature, self-starters with a knack for multi-tasking will thrive in this role - making popcorn to recipe, bagging and managing popcorn inventory, scooping home made ice cream, and making fresh lemonade. Interacting with customers is a big part of this job so conversation skills and sales experience are helpful!
